ABSTRACT
With increasing climate variability, municipalities in arid and semi-arid regions can benefit from brackish groundwater desalination and reuse of municipal and industrial wastewaters to augment their water supply. Strategic incorporation of advanced water treatment technologies is essential for system reliability and affordability, considering tradeoffs among driving force (pressure, electricity or heat) and system complexity.
