About CHEE

Well-Balanced and Forward-Thinking

The UA Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering covers major academic and research areas while providing personalized attention.

From creative classrooms that keep all students on track to interdisciplinary research – with strengths in water treatment, hazardous waste remediation, environmentally safe semiconductors and air quality monitoring – CHEE programs are forward thinking and well balanced.

The CHEE approach pays off: students who rise to the challenge of rigorous academics, faculty and staff who care each and every day, outreach that makes a difference for people near and far, and research that knows no bounds.

The CHEE Student Experience

“This department has phenomenal faculty. The active learning and group work really help to prepare the students for their futures as professionals.”
Jacob Rischar, undergraduate
“My time in the UA CHEE program and the work experience I have gave me a significant advantage during the application process as I study the law.”
Kaitlyn Mensing, Environmental Working Group intern, Duke University JD candidate
“Courses are to the point and directly related to our field of work, and UA Engineering faculty are highly knowledgeable and always there to help.”
Mojtaba Azadi Aghdam, research assistant
“With so many different environmental issues threatening society, I hope that my work can help make a more sustainable future for everyone.”
Jeannie Wilkening, 2018 UC Berkeley PhD student
“This is an avenue where I can be the voice of science and technology and bring in the voice of developing nations to make sure we’re helping everyone, not just a select group of people.”
Leah Kaplan, 2018 graduate
