Kerri Hickenbottom talks about water conservation in the documentary "Flowing Forward: Shared Water."

CHEE associate professor Kerri Hickenbottom was featured in a documentary about the precarious future of the Colorado River and efforts for a more sustainable future. The second episode of Flowing Forward, produced by the University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering, covers the population growth in Southwestern states and the dwindling water supply from the river that supports them.

While touring Arizona, the documentary crew speaks to scientists, farmers, and city planners to understand the realities of water in five growing states. The documentary includes multiple University of Arizona faculty, including CHEE associate professor Andrea Achilli, who speaks on the over-allocation of the Colorado River.

"The force that the water has, how it's dug out this path for itself, it's unyielding. And us as humans, we've tried to mold it into something that it's not," Hickenbottom said. "If we aren't conscious of how we use it, it's not going to be here anymore for us to enjoy."
