Environmental Biotechnology & Remediation
Researchers investigate and develop novel processes to remove hazardous contaminants from soil and water
Widespread contamination by hazardous chemicals is a threat to public health and the environment. Environmental remediation involves the removal of hazardous contaminants from groundwater, surface water, soil and sediment. Faculty conduct pioneering work in microorganisms-contaminant interactions, environmental bioremediation and remediation using different physicochemical methods -- for example adsorptive processes, electrochemical treatment and advanced oxidation.
